Carl was a lifetime resident of this area and graduated in Vera High School's Class of 1956, totaling just 6 class members. When he was a child here, rural areas did not have electricity so his family would borrow their truck's battery at night to operate the house radio.
Most of his life, Carl did not relax and worked all the time. His full-time job was parts manager for the Chevrolet dealership but he kept extra jobs on the side. When supporting a young family, he moonlighted with a tow truck and was an usher at the movie theater. He always helped his dad buck hay, would till, plant and harvest on the farm, and worked as a shade tree mechanic to the rescue of many. Carl could fix anything. He was a quiet man, kind-hearted to all living creatures, and a bit too generous - meaning there were a few who took advantage of this otherwise good trait.
After retiring, he voluntarily mowed and maintained this cemetery for about 15 years until his death.
