CLARION - Mrs. Anna E. Crooks, 84, of 402 Wood St., wife of James M. Crooks, died Monday in Grandview Extendcare in Clarion. She was born November 12, 1888, at MT. Zion, Clarion County, a daughter of Luther and Emma Fleming Over.

She graduated from Sligo High School and Clarion Normal School and taught for three years in the Piney Township School 6. She was married September 15, 1910, to James M. Crook, who founded the J.M. Crooks & Sons Store in Clarion. Mrs. Crooks was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the WSCS of the church, a member of the Clarion County WCTU, a 50-year member of the Clarion County Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Clarion Women's Club.

Surviving along with her husband, J.M. Crooks are three sons; J. Paul and Donald E. Crooks of Clarion RD 1 and Richard A. Crooks of Brookville; three daughters, Louise C. Geary of Boyertown, Mrs. Virginia M. Lewis of Youngstown, Ohio and Mrs. Doris Purinton of Clarion; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Weeter of Callensburg and Mrs. Walter (Alice) Nale of Clarion; 24 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. One brother is deceased.

Friends may call at the Gerald I. Goble Funeral Home in Clarion from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Removal will be made to the First United Methodist Church in Clarion, Wednesday, where the body lie in state from 12 noon until the time of the funeral services, at 1 pm, with the pastor, Rev. George S. Crooks, officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery. Crooks Clthing Store and Crooks Shoe Store in Clarion will be closed on the day of her funeral. (transcript by Paul Kifer)
