Parents: Leonard and Olive Otis.

Her parents taught her the importance of family and the value of honesty and hard-work, lessons she carried with her all her life. In 1943, they moved to California.

Dorothy had two passions. Even as a child her heart went out to the sick and injured and seemed to have a special touch about her. It seemed to define who she was. She worked with patients in the local hospital as well as on a private basis. Her other passion was her children. In addition to being a devoted and fiercely protective mother, she taught them to enjoy simple things. Her children still remember singing with her and listening to her play the piano. In 1993 she moved to Oregon, where she lived for the rest of her life.

On Sunday, May 12, 2013, Dorothy died. She is mourned by family and friends leaving three daughters: Joyce Hong of Oakland, OR; Corlys Martin of Willows, CA and Deanna Ellingson of Tenmile, OR; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great grandchildren. In addition she leaves two brothers: Francis and Virgil, both of Oregon.

Special thanks for the love and care given to her for the last 19 months of her life by the folks at Chantele's Loving Touch in Sutherlin, OR.

As requested, she was buried in Willows, California where she had spent most of her life. Graveside services were held there May 25, 2013. No services will be held in Oregon.
