John J. Ormsby passed away peacefully at his home on October 11, 2003.
John "Jack" was born October 2, 1913 in Glasgow, Scotland, arriving in New York months later. Attended Regis High School, received BS from St. John's University and Masters Degree from NYU.
A veteran of WWII, Jack worked in finance for Phillips Electronics, General Foods, Standard Brands, and came to California with Tidewater Oil in 1963.
A CPA, he later formed his own firm. He was professor emeritus at Woodbury University having taught and chaired the accounting and marketing department.
A devoted Catholic, Jack served as a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD, and was a lector for various parishes. Jack was a member of Serra International serving as president of the Beverly Hills chapter and district governor.
Jack loved Jim Murray, Broadway musicals, and a great cup of coffee. His sense of humor and lively spirit will remain in the hearts of his family always.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Margaret "Peg"; his six children, John, Jr. (Jane), Maureen Kozoll (Larry), Therese Wolf (Bill), Peggy Zelenay (Jim), Regina Gassner (Randy), and Gary Ormsby (Nancy); nineteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Vigil services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at McCormick Redondo Beach Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Martyr Church, Redondo Beach, with committal in Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City.
