Born Birmingham, England.

Upon arrival in Salt Lake, Abraham Orme and his family were told by Brigham Young to go on to Nephi to make shoes for the people in that community. They proceeded immediately, reaching there the next day, and were settled inside old Fort Wall in what was called Bigler Row. The Indians were on the warpath and Abraham had to delay "making shoes for the people" until the redmen could be quelled. This accomplished, he built a two-room house outside the Fort and fitted up one end of it for his shoe shop. Here the family remained until 1890, when they built a brick home on Main Street which is still standing. Abraham was the father of eleven children. Four were taken in the scarlet fever epidemic of 1868. Two other children and his wife, Sarah, preceded him in death. He was a deeply religious man, serving in various church positions throughout his life. He was loved by his acquaintances, respected and revered by his family. His death occurred April 7, 1912
