Joyce D. Albers died suddenly at her home on Sunday, August 5, 2001. She was born April 23, 1919 in Brill, WI to Arnt and Rebecca (Monroe) Olson and moved to Lynden with her family when she was 3. She graduated from Lynden H.S. in 1937 and married Richard Albers in May of 1939. They lived in Anchorage, AK from 1953-1973, in MI., and then to Tacoma, WA from 1981-2001 before returning to Whatcom County in June of this year. Mrs. Albers was an avid golfer and natural athlete, with lifelong interests in art and in crafts (sewing, crocheting, knitting and oil painting). She was also an active volunteer wherever she lived Camp Fire Girls, the Hospital Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi were some special favorites.

She was preceded in death by brother Edward (Ladd) Olson and sister Ruth Kelley. She is survived by her husband and their children. Daughters: Nancy Peck, Mary Albers, and Sally Albers. Sons-in-law: Brian Peck, and Alan Kemble. Other survivors include siblings: Caroline Blong, Alice Hardin, Bob Olson and wife Katherine, Betty Lockhart, Jerry Olson and wife Charlotte, and brother-in-law Mike Kelley. She has 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday, August 10, 1:00PM at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, Northwest Rd. & Axton Rd. in Ferndale.
