OBITUARY OF SOLDIER ALFRED OLSON
Alfred Olson was born at Racine, Wis., January 13th, 1890, where he lived until he was 9 years of age when he moved with his parents to South Dakota , living on farm 2 miles south-east of Viborg for x number of years until the family moved to Sundance, Wyo.
On June 3rd, 1918, he enlisted in the army at Sundance, and was stationed for a short time at Logan, Utah, and in September that year sailed overseas, landing in England and was at once transferred to France with x company of engineers (Co. "A" 311th Engineers). Shortly after reaching France, he was taken sick and this developed into pneumonia from which he died on October 6th, 1918, and was buried in Cemetery No. 25 at Talans (four miles south west of Sardasux) France, from which place his remains were transferred and landed in Hoboken, N.J.: Oct. 25, 1920.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Sunday, Oct. 31st in charge of the American Legion, the sermon being preached by Rev. A. W. Fanchet of Sioux Falls.
He leaves to mourn, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Olson, two brothers, Henry and David, and one sister, Mrs. H. E. Monk.
