Jennie C. Farr, widow of James T. Farr and a resident of 411 N. Carey, died early Tuesday in a local hospital. She had been seriously ill the past twelve days. Funeral rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
Mrs. Farr had been a resident of Grand Island since 1952 when she and Mr. Farr came to Grand Island from Stromsburg. She was born April 22, 1885 at Big Rock, Iowa, to Ole and Katie Larson Olson. She received her schooling and grew to womanhood in that community. She married James Farr on March 1, 1904 at Osceola, Iowa. Soon thereafter, they moved to Pine Bluffs, Wyo., where they homesteaded. They resided there until 1921, when they moved into Pine Bluffs and Mr. Farr began his service with the Union Pacific Railroad. Mr. Farr retired in 1943 and the family moved to Stromsburg. After a residence there of nine years, they came to Grand Island. Mr. Farr died March 21, 1959.
Mrs. Farr is survived by three sons, Claude D. of Grand Island, and Robert and James both of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a brother Clarence of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Tonhouse of Vincent, Iowa and Mrs. A. J. Pringel of Webster City, Iowa; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
