June Arlene Denny, age 88, of Durand, Ill., died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, in Medina Nursing Center after a short illness. June, the daughter of Anna and Tilmer Olson and sister to the late Lester Olson, and Judy Talley, was born June 13, 1924 in Westby, Wis. She graduated from Westby High School and married, and survived by Terence W. Denny, on December 28, 1951. They resided in Rockford, Ill., where they raised their family: Charles T. Balcom of Rockford, Ill., the late Craig E. Balcon, Bruce D. Denny of Kerrville, Texas, Roger L. Denny of Knoxville, Tenn. She is also survived by Mary Ellen Simpson. June was a self-educated interior decorator, operating the business out of the home in Rockford, Ill., and Pecatonica, Ill. In 1974 June and Terry moved to the Knoxville, Tenn., area where they had a successful paint and decorating shop called, "Just So Decorating" until retirement in 1987. June A. Denny will always be remembered as a loyal and loving wife and partner to her husband of sixty years. Terry. As a mother she loved, taught, and encouraged her children to be responsible, independent and grateful. As a business women she has an unwavering eye toward quality and integrity. To her friends, a strong personality, constantly supportive and uncompromising with truth. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sheila Kosko, Steven G. Fillers, Diane Balcom, Phillip Denny, Blake Denny, Jessica McRaven, Meredith Denny and others. She is predeceased by grandson Nicholas Balcom. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main St., Durand, IL, with Reverend Brian Channel of the Durand United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Durand Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
