Age 77, of Rockford, died Friday, at SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born in Crawford County, WI, the son of Howard and Stella (Burkum) Olson. Graduated from Gays Mills High School in 1955. He married October 3, 1964 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Rockford, IL. He worked several years for Rockford School District 205 as an instructor in Business Programing at the Vocational Center and as a paraprofessional at various schools. Harland was a 50 year active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, serving on the church council for many years, treasurer of the Special Gifts Foundation, church auditor, and a former Sunday School teacher. He served many years as the Treasurer of the Board of Building and Operating for the Christian Cancer Center of Kakinada, India. He was active with Kantorei, the Singing Boys of Rockford, and he participated in forming the board for the Friends of the Performing Arts of East High School which was instrumental in dedicating The Arthur T. Johnson Auditorium. Harland was proud to be a member of the Eight Gallon Club of the Northern Illinois Blood Bank. Predeceased his by parents and brother-in-law, William Ferguson.
