Harold M. Olson age 80 passed away September 15, 2009 at his home in Canton. Harold was born March 29, 1929 on a farm in Lyon County, Iowa to Conrad and Helma (Brynjulson)Olson. He attended school and worked on area farms in his younger years. He then worked for local plumbing and heating contractors in Canton gaining valuable experience in plumbing and sheet metal trades. Harold entered the US Army in 1951 and served in Korea for a year.
Harold was united in marriage to Bonnie Detmers on September 27, 1952 at Canton Lutheran Church. He reentered into the army into active duty in 1957 and was stationed at bases in the US, Europe, and Korea. He also had a tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his retirement and discharge from the army he resumed his trade in the plumbing and heating business with Hap Chaon and Ray Olson.
Harold was a member of Canton Lutheran Church for many years. He enjoyed boating, skiing, visiting with friends and family, and feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bonnie; two sons, Conrad (Melanie) and Stephen all of Canton. 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
