Thelma May Oliphant, 87, of Westport. Died at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born December 26, 1924 in Greensburg, the daughter of Clyde and Mary (Larrison) Martin. She had lived in Colorado from 1973 until 2005. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in North Vernon and enjoyed doing word search books and reading her Bible. She married Roscoe Oliphant, Sr. in Greensburg on May 20, 1942. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2006.
Survivors include her daughters, Yvonne Oliphant of Westport and Barbara (Maurice Ron) Merritt of Seymour; her son, Roscoe Oliphant, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Mary Rigby and Beverly Schwering and a brother, Harry Martin.
Funeral services will conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Bob Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Hebron Cemetery at Adams. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
