Flora Ann Dyer Oldham

Flora Ann Dyer Oldham, 72, of Parkersburg, W.Va., passed away on May 18, 2010 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family, following an extended illness.

She was born February 5, 1938, in Gassaway, W.Va., a daughter of the late Stephen and Nellie Williams Dyer.

Flora received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Glenville State College. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Washington Jr. High School in Parkersburg. She was a devoted wife and mother and took 23 years away from her teaching career to raise her daughters. She then returned to teaching at Franklin Jr. High and Edison Jr. High Schools, where she taught Home Economics. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. She was a Methodist by faith.

She is survived by three daughters, Renee Casteel (Rick) of Clarksburg, W.Va., Leanne Hoselton (Allen) and Denise Deuley (Paul), both of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Mary Stout (Don) of Charleston, W.Va. and Janie Dyer of Gassaway, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Rachelle Casteel and Ricky Casteel both of Clarksburg, W.Va.; and niece and nephew, David and Christie Stout of Charleston, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roderick "Rod" K. Oldham whom passed away in 1993.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St. Parkersburg, W.Va. with Reverend Olen Butcher-Winfree officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
