BROOKSTON — Warren Henry “Jack” Oilar, 91, of Brookston, died at 11:05 AM Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Lafayette Home Hospital. He was born near Battle Ground on Sept. 7, 1911, to Asa Eugene “Doc” and Daisy May Ward Oilar. He attended Battle Ground and Klondike schools, and was in the first freshman class at Klondike High School. He married Margaret L. Scruggs in Lafayette on Jan. 3, 1940. She survives, and is a retired hairdresser.

Mr. Oilar farmed in White and Montgomery counties from 1940-61. He worked at the AMOCO (Standard Oil) Fertilizer plant in Chalmers for 12 years and retired in 1975. He lived in Brookston since 1987. He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church. He was a 4-H Leader for several years in Chalmers. He was an avid euchre player and an IU fan.

Other survivors include daughters, Joyce Guard (companion-Dwayne Clark) of Crawfordsville and Janet (Joel) Hall of Lafayette; a son, Jack R. (Sharon) Oilar of Chalmers; a brother, Eugene “Jiggs” (Fern) Oilar of Chalmers; sisters, Pauline Jewett of New Milford, Conn., and Bessie Hague of Delphi; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Six sisters and a brother are deceased.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Services will be at 10 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, W. Lafayette.
