Ellery was the son of Charles E. Ohnmeiss and Susan E. Wren. Coroner Schneider Conducting Inquest to Determine Reason for Young Man's Death Following Visit to Dental Parlors. An inquest to determine what caused the death of Ellery E. Ohnmeiss, of 1108 Charles street, will be conducted at the city hall council chamber, this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, by Dr. George L. Schneider, the coroner. Members of the family made complaint to the coroner relative to Mr. Ohnmeiss' death and the county official made a report of the incidents leading up to the man's death to the city police and district attorney today. Mr. Ohnmeiss went to the dental offices of Dr. Shor at 115 W Third street, on Tuesday afternoon of last week, in good health, according to his family, and had the teeth of his lower jaw extracted. Relatives informed the coroner that an anesthetic was administered to Mr. Ohnmeiss several times during the afternoon. He went home and became very ill and died on Wednesday evening, about 5:30 o'clock. The complaint was made to the coroner by a brother and cousin of the deceased. Dr. Fred Weddingen performed the autopsy yesterday and reported today that his examination showed that death was caused from hypostatic pneumonia. All members of the staff of the Shor dental parlors here have been subpoenaed for the inquest.

Later newpaper articles revealed the verdict: "We find, firstly, that Ellery Ohnmeiss died of inspiration pneumonia following nitrous oxide and oxygen anaesthesia for extraction of teeth. Secondly, we find that the lungs were filled with clotted blood, which blood, we believe, entered the lungs during the patient's unconscious condition. Thirdly, the patient was not unconscious from the time he left the dental office until his death." His wife later married a Hoover and is also buried in Wildwood Cemetery.

Genealogy Note: Wildwood Cemetery records indicate cause of death as: Pulmonary Embolism
