Death Overtakes Dan Ockerman

Daniel C. Ockerman, known to the children of his neighborhood as "Uncle Dan" was the son of John W. and Phebe Ockerman. He was born Nov 9, 1867 and died in his home in East Corydon April 12, 1951 at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 4 days.

His entire life was spent in Wayne county with the exception of two years when he and his family homesteaded near Cleo Springs, Okla.

At an early age, he united with the Methodist church at Zion Hill.

On Mar 13, 1890 he was married to Matilda Carolyn McDaniels and to this union three sons were born. They enjoyed their 61st wedding anniversary last March.

On Monday, April 2, he suffered a paralytic stroke from which he never rallied and slipped away Thursday evening a 6:30

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sons.

He is survived by his widow, one son, Claude of Corydon, his daughter-in-law and three grandchildren, Mrs. Theda Duncan of Clio, W. Eugene Ockerman of Lindsay, Okla. and Robert H. Ockerman of Corydon
also three great grandchildren, Cheryl Necoe of Lindsay, Okla., and Robert Michael and Richard Eugene of Corydon, numerous other relatives and friends.

Dan was a patient, loving and a very kind husband and father, whose beloved smile, endeared him to all who knew him.

To know him was to love him and his passing leaves a vacancy which is filled to its brim with pleasant memories.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Wolf Funeral home in Corydon.

Pallbearers were Gilbert West, Cliff Duncan, Lester Snyder, Cliff McLin, Clayton Hillyard and Rolla Alfred. Mrs. Homer Grismore and Mrs. Clayton Hillyard had charge of the flowers. Mrs. G. R. West was pianist.

Burial was in Corydon Cemetery.
