Bridget O'Neill Cousins, 43, of Virginia Beach, completed her journey among us on June 6, 2003. Bridget was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy O'Neill formerly of Virginia Beach. She is survived by her husband of three years, Richard L. Cousins of Willis, Texas, and close friends she regarded as her family that are too numerous to mention.
Bridget was employed with Tracor/Marconi/BAE Systems for over 23 years in various positions until June of 2002 when she went to QED Systems as the executive assistant to the president, Mark Jones. She enjoyed charity work and organized many drives and functions for various organizations. A valued member of the Virginia Beach Jaycees for a number of years, she was extremely involved in the annual East Coast Surfing Championships and other projects.
Bridget was one of those people who truly never met a stranger. If you were around her for more than a few minutes she would know and remember your name and what was said. She will be profoundly missed by those who loved her.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 2002 Laskin Road, Virginia Beach. It was her request that ladies wear hats to the memorial service. A Catholic Mass will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, followed by a short graveside service at Colonial Grove Memorial Park, 3445 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. At the conclusion there will be a wake held at the residence of Richard and Bridget Cousins.
