Bertha Imogene Nunez Acosta passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Howard "Chick" Acosta. Mother of Marvin Howard Acosta, Philip Wayne Acosta, and Sharon Acosta Shad. Preceded in death by her father Harry Joseph Nunez, her mother Addie Reese Nunez and siblings Hazel Nunez Deogracias and Harry Reese Nunez. Surviving family members include 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Bertha, a long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish, was an active member and organist at Creedmore Presbyterian Church and an amateur horticulturist. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at the St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA, on Monday, May 23, 2011, from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 12:00 PM. Interment follows at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (Alzheimer research), 825 Northeast Thirteenth St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104; the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714; or the charity of your choice.
