FORESTDALE- Lois (Roberts) North, 90, of Wildwood Road, Forestdale, died April 13, 2012. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. North. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Edmund C. and Emily (Whetstone) Roberts. Lois was a North Smithfield resident for over 60 years.
She was an executive secretary for 20 years for the former Turex Company, Nasonville, retiring in 1991. Lois was the past president of the PTA in North Smithfield and an assistant librarian at the North Smithfield Elementary Schools for many years. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Woonsocket, and its Senior Club. She was also a member of the Republican Women's Club in North Smithfield.
Lois leaves her son, Christopher North and his wife Susan of North Smithfield; two daughters, Jane Lass and her husband Richard of Woodland Park, CO, and Sally McCooey and her husband Thomas of North Smithfield; a sister, Audrey Mitchell of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Erik Lass, Alison and Thomas J. McCooey, and Jonathan and Joshua North; three great grandchildren, Matalyn Lass, Kennedy McCooey and Trevor Murphy, and her pug, Zoe. She was the sister of the late Lester Roberts, Nellie Collins, Doris Holt and Marjorie Walker and the grandmother of the late Kristin Lass.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 with a service at 1:30 PM in St. James Episcopal Church, 24 Hamlet Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Slatersville Cemetery, Green Street, Slatersville. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the North Smithfield Public Library, P.
