Paradise Progress Review - January 1945
Mrs Lillian A Baker, long time resident of Paradise, died at an Oroville hospital on January 4.
She was the daughter of the late R.V. Norris, a G. A. R. veteran, and was born on February 12, 1873, at St. Joseph, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs W.W. Baker were married at Bakersfield in 1893 and would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary in February.
The family moved to Paradise in 1917, lived in Chico from 1924 until 1928 when they again returned to Paradise where they have since resided in their home on the Neal Road. The deceased was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by the widower, W.W. Baker;, six children, Mrs Gladys Dolan of San Diego; Mrs Roberta Dorsey of Monterey, Mrs Idah Duer of Lodi, Leland Baker of Napa, Lester Baker and Oscar Baker of Paradise; a brother, Perry E Norris of Hinsdale, Illinois; and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on January 8 from Calvery Baptist Church, the Reverend E.L. Field officiating. Mrs Neva Bille, Mrs C.A. Wilson, and Carl Heinke, accompanied at the piano by Mrs . LeRossignol, sang two numbers, 'Beautiful Isle" and "Never Grow Old." Casket bearers were C.L. Nall, Carl Heinke, David Jones, Harold Pierce, Frank Reynolds, and Mr Daly. Interment was in the local cemetery in the family blot.
