Darlene M. Boedecker 81, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor James Mossman officiating.

Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City.

Darlene is survived by her son Steve (Judy) Boedecker of Twin Lakes; daughter Sandy Brehm of Williamsburg; five grandchildren; three great-grandsons; two step-great-grandsons; sisters, Dorothy Wehling of Sumner, Karla Nicklaus of Minneapolis, MN, Janice Schweer of Davenport, and Linda Niedert of Sumner; and brother Leon Nicklaus of Sumner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; grandson Nicholas Brehm; parents, Andrew and Malinda Sauerbrei Nicklaus; sister Velma Schnor; and brothers, Andy and Carlyle Nicklaus.

Darlene Minnie Nicklaus Boedecker was born August 6, 1929 at Waverly. She was raised and educated in Sumner. Following her education, Darlene worked at Sumner Produce for several years. On June 26, 1949 she was united in marriage to Allen E. Boedecker at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli. The couple established their home in Sumner. In 1955, they moved to Rockwell City, where they owned and operated a Sinclair Station for ten years. They spent their summers at their cottage on Twin Lakes, where they operated the Twin Lakes Park Stand. They later built a new home and moved to Twin Lakes permanently.

Darlene had worked as a cook for the Calhoun Co. Home, the Lunch Box in Rockwell City, and then Manson. She also had worked at Tony Kart in Manson. In 2002, the couple CX moved into Rockwell City. Allen passed away in 2009. Darlene was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and an avid quilter.
