The marriage of Miss Ethel India Newton, daughter of Mrs. Carl D. Newton, and Harry Sinclair Affleck, son of Mrs. Harry Affleck, was solemnized at 8:30 o'clock Thursday evening at the First Presbyterian church, with Dr. P. B. Hill officiating.
Large white chrysanthemums were placed in front t of the pulpit, while in the background were white candelabra holding white cathedral tapers palms and banks of smilax . Down the aisles were white candelabra decorated with clusters of chrysanthemums lied with satin bows. Palms of woodwardia fern also formed part of the decorations.
Jarratt Beanland sang "At Dawning" and "Because," accompanied by Frederick King at the organ,who also played the traditional wedding marches.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Carl D. Newton II, wore a white satin gown, which was made with a high black and a V-neck, a full blouse and tight-fitting waist. The shirred sleeves came to a point well over the hands, and the skirt was circular. She wore a veil of double bridal illusion with a satin coronet made with white bride's roses and lilies of the valley. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley. Little Frances Tewes, cousin of the bridegroom, was the flower girl, and she wore a miniature bride's dress and carried a miniature bridal bouquet.
The bridesmaids entered in pairs. Miss Amy Lillian McNutt and Miss Carolyn Hoon entered first wearing russet bronze slipper satin. Then followed Miss Carrie Newton and Miss Nell Schrelner in burnt peach satin and Misses Emily and Jean Splvey of Dallas, In gold satin. Miss Ann Harley and Miss Mary Jane Kuntz entered wearing cafe aulait satin, followed by Miss Iva Newton and Mrs. Werner Rennert, her maid of honor and matron of honor, respectively, wearing leaf green satin. These gowns were made along the same lines as that if the bride's, with the exception of a V-neckline in front and back and short sleeves. They each carried bouquets of huge bronze chrysanthemums tied with satin ribbons of matching shades. They wore double
circular veils bound with satin to match and bandeaux of the same satin.
Charles Jeffers assisted as best man, while the groomsmen included Bedell Moore, Claude Witherspoon, Jr., Dr. Daniel Altgelt, V.B. Hood Jr.. William Ford, Travis Bailey, Dr. William M. Wolf Jr., A.J. Bidder Jr, and Wier Labatt Jr.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held In the garden of the bride's mother, at 800, East Olmos Drive. The home was decorated with talisman roses and bronze chrysanthemums. while the table, laid with an Italian cut work cloth was centered with sunset shades of chrysanthemums and talisman roses on either side of which were silver candelabra holding white tapers. The wedding cake was ring-shaped and was embossed with white roses, orchids and lilies of the valley and edged with white silk lace.
Assisting Mrs. Newton ilk lace. Assisting Mrs. Newton in serving the coffee and punch were Mesdames Frank Rennert, William Gentzen, Fred Silvey, Bernard Horner, Arthur Lambert, James Harris, Prank Wlnerich, T.A.
