Funeral services for Mrs. Ira Dell Bell, age 97, of Centerville and formerly of the Flo Community of Leon County, have been set for 10 AM, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. Rev. Phil Smith, grandson, will officiate and burial will be in the Parker Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday evening from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home. Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ira Dell Bell was born in Ninevah, Texas on April 3, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of Leon County. She married the love of her life, Cecil Woodrow Bell, and they had 52 years together before his death in 1991. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word and made a wonderful home for her family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She loved nothing better than for her family to be gathered near her. Ira Dell was an excellent cook. She enjoyed gardening and watching the birds, especially the humming birds. She loved to attend the young ones' sports events. She was a Baptist by faith. Ira Dell passed away on February 25, 2017 in Centerville. Ira Dell was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Maggie (McKee) Newsom, husband, Woodrow Bell, grandson, Peyton Smith, granddaughter, Lana Lee, great granddaughter, Maci Smith, daughter-in-law, Suzette Bell and ten of her brothers and sisters. Surviving family includes two sons, Cecil Bell (wife, Annie) of Seattle, Washington and Gary Bell (wife, Pat) of the Flo Community; four daughters, Maxine Lee of Buffalo, June Cantrell (husband, Marlin) of Flo, Sandra Reeder (husband, Mark) of Spring and Janet Bell of Centerville; one brother, Mack Newsom of Houston; a sister, Jackie Franks of Centerville; twenty-one grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren and nineteen great great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are (grandsons) Keith Lee, Eric Bell, Brad Reeder, Patrick Smith, “Bubba” Bell, Ray Bell Bell and Steven Goolsby. Honorary pallbearers are the great grandsons and the great great grndsons.
