In 1917 they purchased a farm in the Henley area from John Greene. There was a home on the land, and Fred built a barn, chickenhouse, and smokehouse to cure meat.
Two more children, Louise and Fred, Jr., were born.
Maggie purchased a beautiful horse which she used to deliver the farm produce. She also rode long distances to visit relatives and her folks.
On July 23, 1920, Maggie died at the age of 29, leaving six small children between the ages of ten and one.
