Final Rites for Mrs. S E Adams

At 11:30 last Thursday night God gave sleep to one of His elect, the beloved Mrs. Carolina Neubert Adams, who had been in failing health for several years. Services were held Saturday morning in the home in which she had lived for forty years and had known both happiness and sorrow. The solemn rites were conducted by the Rev. E C Brasington, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, and members of that choir sang one of her favorite hymns, "My Faith Looks up to Thee". Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Barry Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Adams was 80 and was the widow of Sherman E Adams, prominent business man, civic and religious leader, who died July 17 1949. They were married 55 years ago.

A daughter of the late Louis and Annie Neubert, Mrs. Adams was born in Cincinnati but came here with the family nearly 70 years ago. Although brought up in the Roman Catholic faith, she joined the Presbyterian Church when a very young woman and was a faithful and devout member. Until her health failed she was active in all departments of the church work. For many years she taught a Sunday school class and held various offices, including that of president, in the woman's organization. Her Christian living was an inspiration to her family, her co-workers and others of the community. Regardless of bad weather or other trying conditions it was always known that Mrs. Adams, her husband and their two sons would be in their accustomed places in church. The tragic death of her older son, Earl, when he was a very young man, left a scar which time had never healed, but she bore her sorrow with Christian fortitude knowing that "For now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know even as also I am known."

Mrs. Adams leaves one son, Frank N Adams, two sisters, Mrs. Henrietta Arnold of Greenville and Mrs. Hettie Owens, a granddaughter, Mrs. W G Stovall Jr., of Washington, D C, several nieces and nephews.
