Florence Bowman, 82, a life-long resident of Fremont County, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, in an auto accident near Chester. Mrs. Bowman was born July 30, 1916, at Ora, the first of seven children of George and Lea Catherine Waugh Nedrow, Sr. She grew up in Ora where she attended grade school. She graduated from Ashton High School in 1934. She married Edward Ray Bowman on April 4, 1935, in St. Anthony. They lived in Ashton where she worked along side her husband on the ranch, and in 1975 they moved to Chester. Mr. Bowman died in June 1986. Florence was an active member of the LDS church and was on her way to church when the accident happened. She was always serving others and was a community volunteer, serving at Hess Heritage Museum, the Ashton Visitor Center and other community organizations. She is survived by one son, Lynn Edward [Mae] Bowman of Ashton and one daughter, Iris Holquist of Seattle; siblings Phyllis Jenkins, Erma Lou McCulloch and George Nedrow Jr., all of Ashton, and Francis Janke of Fredonia, N.D.; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death two sisters, one grandchildren and one-great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, July 28 in the Ashton Stake Center with Bishop Stan LeCheminant of the Chester LDS Ward officiating. Burial was in the Ashton Pineview Cemetery.
