The Billings Gazette April, 1942:

Mrs. Alice Lenora Barkhuff, 63, wife of William H. Barkhuff, route 3, Billings, died in a local hospital at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday of cancer.
She had been ailing for about two years and has been confined to the hospital since the first of the year.
Mrs. Barhuff had been a resident of Yellowstone county since 1908.
She was born in Aplington, Iowa, on Dec. 22, 1879, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey E. Nash.
She married Mr. Barkhuff at Ashton, Iowa on Nov. 27, 1902.
The family moved to Montana from Sibley, Iowa in 1908, and settled near Broadview. They moved to the present ranch home in 1926.
Mrs. Barkhuff was a member of the First Evangelical church of Billings, and also a member of the Billings Bench club.
Surviving in addition to the widower are two nieces and one nephew reared by Mr. and Mrs. Barkhuff. They are Mrs. Robert Hudson of Kirkland, Wash., Mrs. David Hanson, 603 South Thirty-fourth street, Billings, and Dale Gilbert, Kirkland.
She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Henry Frey, Broadview, and Mrs. Edward Killion, Redmond, Wash., and three brothers, Milo Nash, Riverside drive, Billings, and Earl and Lester Nash, Broadview, and four grand nieces and grand nephews.
Services will be conducted at Smith's chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. E. J. Schroeder, pastor of the First Evangelical church, and the Rev. John H. Oehlerking, also of the Evangelical church, in charge.
