Helen Blochlinger
CONCORDIA -- Helen Blochlinger, 91, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Sunset Nursing Center, Concordia. She was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Jamestown, to William L. Sr. and Ella A. (Downey) Murray. Helen graduated from Jamestown High School. She then attended Marymount College for a year and then Kansas State for a year.
On Feb. 17, 1942, Helen married Laurence A. Blochlinger in Jamestown. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2006.
Helen was a secretary/bookkeeper for a government agency prior to being the bookkeeper for Moose Lodge No. 1428 in Concordia for 32 years until her retirement. She also was a homemaker.
Helen was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Women of the Moose Lodge No. 1428, American Legion Post No. 76 , VFW Post No. 588 Ladies auxiliaries and a 4-H Leader, all of Concordia.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Blochlinger and wife Jan and Gary Blochlinger and wife Betty, all of Concordia; grandchildren Jeff Blochlinger, Brandon Blochlinger and wife Maria, Ricky McWhorter and wife Bobbie, Jennifer Blochlinger and Chelsea McWhorter, all of Concordia, and Chandra Strait and husband Brian, of Phoenix City, Ala.; and great-grandchildren, Gage Strait, of Phoenix City, Ala., and Jocelyn and Jaiden Buller, Drake Blochlinger, Paige and Trinity McWhorter, and Madison Meyer, all of Concordia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; parents; and brother, William L. Murray Jr.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, 325 W. Sixth St., P.O. Box 606, Concordia 66901, with an altar society rosary said at 5 p.m. and vigil services at 6:30 p.m.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with the Rev. Barry Brinkman officiating, followed by burial in St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia.
Memorials may be made to the Church Building Fund, in care of the funeral home.
