Ora A. (Murray) Dunbar, 74, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 30, 2012 following a courageous two year battle with gastric cancer. She was born in Waltham on August 5, 1938 the daughter of the late Reverend George Lewis Murray and Marion Edith (MacLeod) Murray. Ora is survived by her loving and devoted children Sandra Dunbar of Cambridge, Susan Dunbar of Waltham and David Dunbar and his wife Willow Piersol of Medford. She was the cherished grandmother of Calum Dunbar of Medford. Sister of George L. Murray and his wife Karen J. of Ridgewood, NJ. Also survived by one niece and one nephew. Ora spent her formative years in Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School. She had resided in Wayland for over 31 years before moving to Marlborough 12 years ago. For many years she was an Executive Assistant for Skin Care Physicians of Chestnut Hill before retiring. Ora was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church in Cochituate and sang in the Choir. She was a very creative spirit who believed in the spirit of community and was generous, kind and always helped those who were less fortunate. She loved to knit, do needlepoint, listen to music, travel and was especially devoted to her family who was the center of her life. Ora was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and sister and a special friend to all who knew her. She always had a smile and a warm and kind word to everyone she met. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland. Private family services will be held and interment will be in the Dunbar family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
