COLUMBUS, GA: Lists of People, 1828-1852, and Sexton's Reports to 1866 by Mary Jane Galer (published 2000), on page 239 says T. Murphy (birthplace not reported) served in Company i, 1st Regiment, Georgia Infantry, CSA (age and cause of death not reported) and buried November 25, 1863 (from 4th quarter, 1863 report of Sexton, presented January 4, 1863; the sexton's name was William H. Harris). John H. Martin's history of Columbus, Volume 2, p. 165, says T. Murphy (soldier).

Probably died in one of several hospitals set up in Columbus to treat sick and injured soldiers during the Civil War
