Leonora "Nora" M. Beck, 76, died peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2014. She was born in Sugarland, Texas, July 1, 1937, the eldest daughter of Amparo Martinez and Jose Munoz. Raised in Texas City, Texas, and as a survivor of the 1947 Plant Explosion Disaster she was inspired to become a nurse. At age 16 she became a nurse assistant at St. Mary's Infirmary on Galveston Island. She would later serve at St. Luke's Hospital, St. Joseph's Hospital, Southmore Hospital, and for 39 years at Clear Lake Regional Hospital. She served in the nursing field for 55 years.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Amparo and Jose, her younger sister Mary Helen Ruiz, her sons Jose A. Enriquez and Miguel A. Enriquez.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, John R. Beck, her daughter, Maria del Carmen Cantu and husband Ramiro, sons David A. Enriquez and girlfriend Dawn Legrys, and Patrick W. Spedale, 5 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the Vigil Service and Rosary to be celebrated at 7:00 P.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Mr. Patrick W. Spedale presiding celebrant.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 with Rev. John Zabelskas, presiding celebrant. A reception follows immediately with interment to commence at 2:00 P.M. at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to: The Dominican Sisters of Houston, 6501 Almeda Road, Houston, TX 77021.
