Ida Noreen Caldwell, 88, of Washington, formerly of Prosperity, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 in the Canonsburg Hospital following a three year illness.

She was born on February 6, 1916 in Buffalo Township, a daughter of Elmer N. and Della Mae Doman Mounts.

She was a home maker, enjoyed quilting and gardening, and had attended Bethel Presbyterian Church for many years.

On November 22, 1948, she married Robert Vance Caldwell, who died on January 20, 1977.

Surviving are a son, Robert Elmer Cox of Cecil; two step-sons, Robert V. and Judson William Caldwell, both of Washington; four daughters, Evelyn Whitfield of Houston, Helen Bird McClain of Claysville, Lila Solinger of Butler, Frances Whitfield of Canonsburg; two brothers, Abe Mounts of Ohio and Harry Mounts of Claysville; two sisters, Betty Powell of Claysville and Hazel Yaros of Ohio; nineteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are, a son Marion David Cox; step-daughters Mary Martha Dority and Hazel Ferne Caldwell; a brother Leo Mounts; two sisters, Minnie Levers and Lucile Vance.





Friends of Ida N. Caldwell of Washington will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
