William S. (Bill) Mounts Jr., 68, of Morris Township, Washington County, died at 1:55 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, in Donnell House, Washington, after battling cancer-related illnesses on three different occasions.

He was born February 26, 1942, in Library, a son of the late William Simpson Mounts Sr. and Lorena Belle Kelly Mounts.

Mr. Mounts had resided in the Bridgeville and Buffalo Township areas prior to moving to Morris Township in 1967.

He was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church, where he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher, trustee and Sunday school superintendent, and was a member of Claysville American Legion Post 639.

Mr. Mounts enjoyed his time with his family and friends, camping at Big Bear Lake, his Model T automobile and doing yard work.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a sergeant (E-5) with the 630th Transportation Company in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Mr. Mounts was a former employee of Mayview State Hospital, the Walt Pryor Garage and Adams Exxon prior to being employed as a supervisor in land management with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for more than 39 years. He retired in 2003.

On September 25, 1964, he married Daisy Marie Ealy, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Randolph of Dillonvale, Ohio, and Leslie Tilton of Mt. Pleasant, Ohio; a grandson, David Randolph; four sisters, Peggy, wife of Bill Tinkey of Canonsburg, Wanda, wife of Jim Barbour of Middlesex, N.Y., Shelia, wife of Joe Lunn of McDonald, and Sandy, wife of Les Gililland of Tularosa, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers who died at birth.

Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9, with the Rev. Sherry Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, East Finley Township. Graveside military rites will be accorded by representatives of the U.S. Army and Claysville American Legion Post 639. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Fairmount U.M. Church or American Cancer Society.
