Hazel Elizabeth Morris McKinney, 86, died at 8 PM Thursday, Jan. 2, 1997, in Murdoch Manor, Lafayette. Born near Monon on Nov. 29, 1910, she graduated from Monon High School. She married William Harold McKinney on Oct. 4, 1930, in Monticello, and he died March 18, 1987.
Mrs. McKinney had moved to Lafayette from Headlee near Monticello in 1960. She was a retired J.C. Penney's salesperson, and was a member of Brown Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Richard) Benge of Lafayette; four sons, Jerry McKinney of Elkhart, Leon McKinney, Loren McKinney, both of Lafayette, and Maurice McKinney of Star City; a brother, Raymond Morris of Brookston; 14 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 17 step-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
