"Mrs. Jesse Conner (Martha Jane Morlan [OR Morland]) was born in Appanoose County, Iowa January 8, 1858 and departed this life January 23, 1921 aged 63 years and 12 days.

She was united in marriage to Jesse Conner January 13, 1880. They located west of Seymour in 1916.

Her husband preceded her in death August 19, 1919.

She leaves to mourn her departure two sons and two daughters. Mrs. Grace Shock and Lester Conner of Seymour; Herschel Conner of Midian, Kansas; and Mrs. Marcia Marshall, of__________,Iowa. One daughter died in infancy June 27, 1901.

She leaves besides the immediate family four brothers and one sister. W. M. Morlan, Mystic, Iowa; R. L. Morlan, Plano, Iowa; J. H. Morlan, San Francisco, Cal.; A. A. B. Morlan, Monmouth, Ore.; Belinda Conner, Promise City, Iowa. Also eleven grandchildren and a great number of other relatives and friends.
Deceased was united with the Little Flock Baptist church March 18, 1878 and moved her membership to Seymour July 12, 1897.
She was a sufferer the last year of her life but she always bore her suffering with patience.
Toward, the close of her illness in conversing with her brother Robert, she said she was ready to go.
She has always lived a Christian life and remained a devoted Christian to the end.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Tuesday at 10:30 a. m. conducted by Rev. Luther Childs after which the body was placed in the Seymour cemetery."
