Died, at 2:15 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Jan. 2, 1908, at the family residence, Mrs. Hester A. Allyn, aged 89 years, 11 months, 7 days. Decedent was born in Waterloo, Ill., Jan. 26, 1818. She was married to Rev. Norman Allyn, who died March 27, 1864. She was a member of the Methodist church from the time she was 8 years old and a charter member of the Women's Foreign Missionary society of the First M. E. church of this city, also honorary life manager of the northwestern branch of the Women's Foreign Missionary society, a charter member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union and a member of the Temperance Crusaders.
Decedent is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Emma Derry, with whom she had been living and Mrs. Kate S. Flood of Oakland, Cal., one son, Nelson L. Allyn of this city; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Emma E. Derry, 915 South Fifth street, and at the First M. E. church. Mayor Roy R. Reece, all of the aldermen and the city officials attended the funeral services held at the church in a body. The members of the local Woman's Christian Temperance union also attended the service in a body. Interment was made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
