PHYLLIS SARAH (DAVIS) MOORE, 84, of Marlow, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006 in Marlow.
Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow, with Rev. Phil Ware officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.
Phyllis was born Tuesday, August 15, 1922 in Sac City, Iowa, to Charles and Edna (Irwin) Davis. Phyllis graduated from Sac City High School in 1940. After graduation, Phyllis moved to Washington D.C. and worked as a secretary during WWII, and at one point worked for the Maritime Commission.
She married George Moore on January 31, 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She later gave birth to a daughter, Dian and a son, Richard. Phyllis was a stay-at-home mom, raising her children while they were young. She was very active in their activities. She was an assistant Brownie leader for her daughter's troop, assistant for her son's Cub Scout troop, a homeroom mom in their classes and a PTA member who helped in all projects.
After the children got older, Phyllis went to work for the Del City elementary school cafeteria. She also worked for the Oklahoma State Tax Commission for many years while her daughter was in college and her son was in the Navy. George and Phyllis lived in Midwest City for 55 years before her illness necessitated her move to Marlow two years ago.
She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, first in Sac City and later at Wickline United Methodist Church in Midwest City. Phyllis worked in the nursery at Wickline and assisted teaching Sunday school classes.
Her survivors include her husband, George Moore of the home; daughter, Dian Gensamer and husband Jim of Bray, Okla.; son, Richard Moore and wife Charlotte of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandsons, Ben Gensamer of Marlow, Brian Gensamer of Bray, and Brad Gensamer of Duncan, Okla.; step-grandson, David Dyson of Austin, Texas; step- granddaughter, Lisa Redd of Ft. Worth two great-grandsons, Cody Gensamer of Dayton, Iowa, and Brian Gensamer, Jr. of Sierra Vista, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Irwin Davis Lorensen; father, Charles Davis; three brothers, Charles Davis, Chet Davis, and Lester Davis; and two sisters, Elsie Davis and Esther Pike.
