Estelle Moore DeFriese who taught piano in Chattanooga for more than 60 years, died Saturday December 19, 1998 in a local health care facility. She was 77. Mrs. DeFriese a resident of the Silverdale Community, was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church and the Sunnyside Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Chattanooga Music Teachers Association (CMTA), The Tennessee Music Teachers Association and the National Music Teachers Association. She was a founding member of the CMTA Pianorama.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Jimmie DeFriese. Survivors include two daughters, Jimmie Dee Kelley, Elizabethtown, Ky., and Kathy Evans, Orlando, Florida., a sister Lilyan Lucas, Soddy-Daisy and three grandchildren.

A memorial service was held today at 11 a.m. at Silverdale Baptist Church after a family graveside service at Silverdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the DeFriese Scholarship, s/o Silverdale Baptist Church, 7236 Bonny Oaks, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Arrangments were by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
