She was born in Eufaula, to Oliver Lee and Ada Leona (Raper) Moore. As a child, she worked in the fields with her parents, then moved to Chicago, Ill. to find work. She worked in the factories until moving back to Haileyville in the 1950s, making this area her home and raising her family. Her hobbies included quilting for the family and cooking and caring for people. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a resident of Hartshorne and passed away at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Ada Moore; one son, Rodger Duane Joyce; a son-in-law, Grover (Pete) Cleveland Mathews Jr.; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Jessie) Adkins; two brothers, Clay Moore and Oscar Moore and an aunt, Mrs. John (Rosie) Miller.
