She traveled alone during the war to a place she had never been to meet and marry him, as he came home from submarine combat duty. A wonderful wife and mother who nurtured a close-knit family and had a true a gift for hospitality. No one was ever a stranger in her household.
Her mother was a Hennebery who grew up on a very small windswept island in Helifax Harbor,(Devils Island). The Henneberries formed the majority family on this fishing island. They were a hardy, fun loving family who spend much time singing trational folk songs. Ben Henneberry her uncle made significant contributions when the songs he sang were transcribed by Helen Crietion. Today Ben's contributions have been called a Canadian "National Treasure".
