Dalfred Earl Monroe of Gays Mills, WI, died peacefully on Monday August 19, 2013 at Gunderson, Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI., after a valiant fight with cancer, he was 77 years old.
Dalfred was born on July 29, 1936 in Crawford County to Velmer and Allie (Posey) Monroe.
He worked in Crawford and Grant counties most of his life. He worked in Prairie du Chien for several years until his retirement in 1998. He liked to deer and squirrel hunt, fish and he loved Bluegrass music. He will be remembered by his family playing the guitar and singing, when it amused him to do so.
Dalfred is survived by his 6 children, one son, William (Sara) and 5 daughters Wilma, Wanda (Scott) Toberman, Wendy (Richard) Carlson, Virginia Teynor, and Berneda. Eleven Grand Children and six Great Grandchildren. Also survived by a brother Russel (Darlene), sisters Mary Jane (Norman) OʼDaniel, and Sarah Ann (Jerry) Dobson, many nephews & nieces other friends and relatives. One special cousin Bill Dalton.
He was preceded in death by his father Velmer; mother Allie, a grandson Jason Anthony Teynor III, a brother Charles, sister Inez Thompson, and a special cousin Harlan Dalton.
We would like to thank the staff at Gunderson, Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse for their attentive care. Also, Bill Dalton for his loving friendship and time he has spent with with Dalfred when we were absent. Bill it is greatly appreciated and we thank you.
