Hazleton Plain Speaker; Tuesday, April 3, 1956:
Howard J. Monroe, of 437 West Broad street, died at 10:30 o'clock last night at the Hazleton State Hospital following a nine-month illness. A resident of this city his entire life, Mr. Monroe was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Walter Beilman, and a son, Howard W. Monroe, both of Trenton, N.J. There are three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
