Mrs. Oliver J. Monica Dies
Mrs. Rose Marie S. LaVere Monica, 34, Wife of Oliver J. Monica, 221 West Main Street, died at 10:10 Friday night in the Mercy Hospital, where she had been a patient since Tuesday.
Mrs. Monica, in poor health for some time, underwent abdominal surgery Thursday and, members of the family said, later suffered a collapse of the lungs. The funeral will be 8:30 Benoit Funeral Home, and at 9 in Sacred Heart Parochial School Gymnasium. Place of burial was undecided today.
Friends may call at the funeral Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Surviving, besides her husband, are her parents, Lawrence E. LaVere, Adams, Adams, Route 2, and Mrs. Madeline E. Bigelow, 140 East Main Street; six children, John, 13, Mary Ellen, 12, Theodore, 10, Mark, 9, Tammy Sue, 6, and William, 3; and two brothers, Lawrence E. LaVere, Jr., and Henry J. LaVere, Watertown.
Mrs. Monica was born in Watertown, July 1, 1935, a daughter of Lawrence E. LaVere and Madeline Belcher LaVere. She attended local schools, later was a lunch counter employee of the F. W. Woolworth Co. store. Elevator operator in the electric Bldg., and finally a kitchen worker at Jefferson County Hospital. She was married to Oliver J. Monica of this city in Watertown March 5, 1953.
