She was born on November 29, 1923, in Middleville, the daughter of Roy and Laura K. (Chellis) Molineux, and graduated from West Winfield Central School in 1941. On September 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Edward “Ned” A. Marhaver and enjoyed a blessed union of forty-three years until his passing on March 21, 1995. At the age of seventeen, she moved to Ilion and found work at Horton’s Drug Store & Soda Fountain. She continued to work in the pharmacy as the store evolved to Lennox Brothers Pharmacy where she retired in 1993. Mrs. Marhaver was a member of the Church of the Annunciation and Mohawk Valley General Hospital Guild and worked on the Board of Elections for many years. Katie was an active member of the Ilion Garden Club for many years and was a recipient of many awards. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and participating in flower shows. Katie had many good times with her husband “Ned” and close friends at the Ilion Elks Lodge and Pleasant Lake.
Surviving family members include her four; her daughter; beloved; her sister; her brother; and her niece and her husband.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law, David A. Smith; her sisters, Emily Schieferstine, Ruth Salisbury, Esther Drabo and Polly Young; and her brother, Frank Molineux.
