Lewis served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was the last of 11 children. He was a heavy equipment operator and was a Baptist.
On September 4, 1971 he married Maidene Mitchell and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2004.
Survivors include six step-children, Floyd C. Williams, Jr. of Hillsboro, Catherine Gilliland of El Paso, Jewella Long of Hillsboro, Leona Bowling of Washington, Frank J. Williams, Sr. of Hillsboro, and Wayne Williams of Arizona; two sisters, Ede Skeen of Bronte and Gladys Modrall; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
