Dorothy Connell, 97, died peacefully in her home on January 26, 2014. Resident of San Francisco since 1942 when she married Jack Connell, a San Francisco school teacher, who preceded her in death in 1979.
Dorothy was born July 17, 1916, in Oakland, CA to Edward and Margaret Mockel.
Dorothy graduated from University High School, Oakland. Attended Merritt Business College. Worked for US Public Health Dept and City & County Tax Collectors Ofc. in San Francisco. Member of Retired City & County Employees Assoc & a member of the Diamond Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her brother Gene Mockel and his wife Alma, Donald Mockel, 2 sisters, Phyllis Hungerford (Robert) & Vivian Thorsen.
She is survived by her sister in law and brother in law, her Godchild and many great nieces and nephews. Dorothy was never blessed with children but was the family Matriarch.
She was a faithful parishioner of St.Emydius Catholic Church in San Francisco.
Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Hayward.
