The funeral for Lorraine M. Anderson will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson, 81, of Owatonna, died Saturday (Dec. 27, 2008) at her home.

Lorraine Minges was born March 17, 1927, in Owatonna. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1944, then from Austin Teacher Training in 1945, received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Mankato State College in 1962, and a master's degree from Mankato in 1969. In 1972 she earned her principalship license from Mankato State. She taught for 16 years in Steele County (Minn.) rural schools. In 1962 she began teaching first grade in Medford, Minn., and was chosen "Outstanding Elementary Teacher in Minnesota" in 1974. From 1975 until her retirement in 1987, she was elementary principal in Medford.

On June 8, 1948, she married Rayfield Anderson; he survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Rodney (Gail) and Randall, both of Owatonna; a daughter, Renee (Richard) Pavek of Rochester; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne (Thelma) Minges of Owatonna.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are preferred to the St. John Lutheran Foundation Scholarships or the Mayo Clinic Department of Development.
