Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Kelso, 92, who died in Iowa City last Tuesday were held from the Oathout funeral home in Iowa City Thursday, with the Rev. Edwin E. Voigt of the Iowa City Methodist church in charge. Pallbearers were grandsons and great grandsons, Merrill Kelso, John Kelso, Hugh Kelso, George McCollister, William McCollister and John McCollister.

Burial was in the Lone Tree cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Kelso, the former Virginia Miller, was born November 6, 1848 at St. Joseph, Mo., the daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Miller. At the age of four years she came to Iowa with her parents, settling on a farm near Lone Tree. She passed away at Iowa City April 15, 1941, at the age of 92 years, five months and nine days.

September 18, 1867 she was united in marriage to John Kelso. Five children were born to this union, Mrs. Ada McColllster, Mrs. Flora Stevens, Mrs. Carrie Anderson, all of Iowa City; Edward Kelso of Cedar Rapids and Morris Kelso of Lone Tree. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1922, and since that time she has spent the greater part of her time in Iowa City.

She was a member of the Methodist church in Lone Tree for the past 50 years, where she was a faithful member.
