TELEGRAM TRIBUNE--OCTOBER 22, 2009

Iris Arebalo was born in November 1912 in Santa Margarita and passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at home with family members present. Iris grew up in the Pozo-Parkhill area of San Luis Obispo County and moved to Atascadero in 1934. She worked as a waitress at the Carlton Hotel and later as supervisor of the staff dining room at Cal Poly. She enjoyed walks on the beach, trips to the Sierras, church studies, potlucks, and always maintained interest in whatever she was experiencing, a trait that lasted into her passing.

Iris is survived by her three sons Benny, Allan and Jerry, to whom she was both a mother and a friend. She will be especially missed for her many hours of patient listening. Iris is also survived by nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Lorna Buckley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cipreano.

Chapel of the Roses is handling the cremation details. At the deceased's request no services will be held. But the family will gather to have a celebration of the life.
