Death Claims Mrs. Berger
Death removed another Noble County pioneer Wednesday when Mrs. Lucy A. Berger, 85, succumbed at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Frances Clark, 710 Birch street.
Mrs. Berger, whose home was at 714 sixth street, had been ill since Sunday. She died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. Final services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Newton funeral home, with Rev. Jack Wilkes officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Berger and her husband homesteaded in 1893 on a farm 12 miles southeast of Perry. In 1933 she moved to Perry following the death of her husband. The deceased was born Jan 19, 1864 in Greentop, MO. She was married Aug 25, 1881 in Independence, Kan., to E. E. Berger, who preceded her in death Dec 12, 1933.
Surviving are four sons, George and Jim Berger of Perry, Charles Berger of Wadsworth, Nev., and Enos E. Berger of Reno, Nev.; four daughters, Mrs. Clark of Perry, Mrs. Zella Keith of Dodge City, Kan., Mrs. Clara Treadway of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Mrs. Hester Dunning of San Rafael, Calif.
A brother, Henry Michaels of Ivanhoe, Calif., and a sister Mrs. Emma Stanley of Havana, Kansas. A daughter preceded her in death.
She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
